Abstract: Education on clinical supervision is a hot topic amongst universities and off-campus facilities alike. Clinical
supervisors need to be abreast of accreditation and certification standards, their role and responsibilities in clinical
education and current models and styles of supervision. This presentation will provide a backbone to understanding
current accreditation and certification standards. In addition, clinical supervisors should learn how to build
interpersonal relationships with students, know how to identify key elements in clinical evaluation, and be able to work
through conflict resolution and interventions with students. This presentation will provide for group activities and
simulations to work through the clinical education process.

Learner Objectives:
The participant will be able to:
 Define the difference between the ASHA CAA accreditation standards and certification standards
 Discuss the roles and responsibilities of supervisors in clinical education
 Identify models and styles of clinical supervision
 Discuss how to build interpersonal relationships with student clinicians
 Identify key elements of clinical evaluations, conflict resolution and intervention
