UNIVERSITY SERVICES COMMITTEE
Effective April 5, 2008 the
University Services Committee has adopted the following
policy for responding to requests regarding research
projects:
The Louisiana Speech Language
Hearing Association (LSHA) strongly encourages research in the fields of
speech-language pathology and audiology and supports the efforts of universities
and investigators at both the state and national level. In order to protect the
privacy of the membership, to assure that all projects will be of benefit to the
public and to promote the interests of the organization, the association has
adopted the following policy.
- All requests will be
reviewed by the Director for University Services or a designated member of
the University Committee to evaluate the applicability/interest of the
research to the membership, and the overall potential contribution of the
research to the fields of speech-language pathology and audiology.
- Researchers must provide
proof of Institutional Review Board approval from a university or agency.
- Research proposals from
not-for-profit entities will be encouraged (students, university
investigators, clinical investigators). Requests to participate in surveys,
questionnaires, etc. solely intended to promote a specific product for
financial gain will be denied.
- Requests for participation
in research projects, web-based surveys etc will be disseminated to the
membership by e-mail announcements. Requests for mailing lists are
currently provided free of charge for LSHA members and for a fee for
nonmembers. In the case of student research, mailing lists will be provided
free of charge if the major professor is a LSHA member.
- Researchers will be
strongly encouraged to present the finished project at a future LSHA
convention.
