2018 Call for Papers

*Please make sure that you have enough material to fill the proposed allotted time. Session times shortened by breaks or early completion are not allowed and will affect participant eligibility for ASHA Continuing Education Credits.

**Please note that student poster sessions should solely authored by students.

LSHA must submit these to ASHA for CEU approval. Learner outcomes will also be included in the convention program booklet.

In compliance with American Speech-Language Hearing Association’s Continuing Education Board’s Requirements, the Louisiana Speech-Language-Hearing Association requires program planners and instructional personnel to disclose information regarding any relevant financial and non-financial relationships related to course content prior to and during course planning.
Based on the information provided, Louisiana Speech-Language-Hearing Association will engage the program planner/instructional personnel in a guided interview process which seeks to understand how the relevant financial or non-financial relationship may influence the content of the course.

For additional information about disclosures: check the ASHA website under Continuing Education: http://www.asha.org/CE/for-providers/admin/7-Most-Effective-Tools-for-Implementing-Requirement-3/
To comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), we ask that all program planners and instructional personnel insure the privacy of their patients/clients by refraining from using names, photographs, or other patient/client identifiers in course materials without the patient’s/client’s knowledge and written authorization.
Relevant financial relationships are those relationships in which the individual benefits by receiving a salary, royalty, intellectual property rights, gift, speaking fee, consulting fee, honoraria, ownership interest (e.g., stocks, stock options, or other ownership interest, excluding diversified mutual funds), or other financial benefit. Financial relationships can also include “contracted research” where the institution gets the grant and manages the funds and the individual is the principal or named investigator on the grant.
Relevant non-financial relationships are those relationships that might bias an individual including any personal, professional, political, institutional, religious or other relationship. May also include personal interest or cultural bias.
****All presentations and handouts must be emailed to the LSHA office by Friday, May 25, 2018. LSHA will be posting the materials on the web for viewing and printing by registered participants. LSHA is no longer providing paper handouts for participants. Speakers are welcome to bring their own handouts for distribution.

If your proposal is accepted, speakers are committing to present at the LSHA Convention on June 14 & 15, 2018 in Lafayette, LA. Presenters are expected to register if they attend any part of the conference. LSHA members are given priority in selection and speaker slots are limited.

Deadline for submittals is Friday, April 6, 2018.
