The Louisiana Speech-Language-Hearing Association
Political Action Committee (LSHA-PAC) was formed in
1993. Legally, LSHA-PAC is affiliated with the
Louisiana Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
It is a financial vehicle to have a voice in
what happens with the laws that dictate so many of
the changes that impact our professions of speech
pathology and audiology via the decisions that our
legislators make.
Essentially, the PAC has been collecting
funds through contributions, of primarily LSHA
members.
The
PAC is currently being revitalized.
Anyone who has contributed to LSHA-PAC is, by
virtue of that contribution, a member of the PAC.
An active committee has been formed from
within the PAC consisting of members from varied
settings in the workplace.
Its purpose is to generate funds for
contributing to the campaigns of legislators and, in
our case, especially those who support the issues of
speech-language pathologists and audiologists.
This direct political involvement allows us
to have control over decisions that affect the
profession of Speech Pathology and Audiology.
If you would like to participate in any
capacity (no experience needed), please contact Gayla
Walton(985-518-1100), current PAC chairperson.
We look forward to hearing from you.
This is a new beginning!
