Offered for CEU credit, this program is designed for the all healthcare professionals who work with adults with tracheostomy. Advanced techniques for successful assessment and placement of a no-leak speaking valve inline with mechanical ventilation will be demonstrated, including review of ventilator settings and best practice procedures for use and alarm management. Attendees also will learn the importance of early intervention and therapy techniques utilizing a no-leak speaking valve for dysphagia and speech. The impact on mobility, infection control and weaning will be discussed. Case studies, hands on sessions, videos, and group discussion will be incorporated to complement the lecture and to enhance the learning experience.
