From Brain to Speech: A Late 8 Update presented by Ken Bleile, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

This presentation discusses the impact of brain development on speech treatment. The morning session describes brain and social development, concluding with a case study of Joanne, an A student in 9th grade who got 5 Fs in 10th . The afternoon session further explores the link between brain development and the Late 8. Topics include the best grade to begin treatment, why treatment is not a pill, and why speech discrimination is not what it seems.

EARLY Registration (Postmarked On or BEFORE March 2, 2018): $85 for professionals; $15 for students with university ID

Course Learning Outcomes: 1. Participants will appreciate the influence of brain development on speech treatment. 2. Participants will understand the impact of the social brain. 3. Participants will describe the effects of age on speech treatment. 4. Participants will discuss why speech treatment is not a pill.
